Lokesh Kanagaraj To Direct 'Standalone Rolex Film' Starring Suriya: Plan To Create A Peak LCU Film

Lokesh Kanagaraj, an director, screenwriter and producer who predominantly works in Indian cinema. He is known for directing larger than life films and brilliant storyline. In a recent media interaction, he gave a major update on his much-awaited film with Suriya.

Lokesh Kanagaraj to collaborate with Suriya?

In an media interaction, the director shared that he plans to make Rolex a standalone film following the success of Kamal Haasan starrer Vikram. Not only that, he also hinted at making a groundbreaking LCU movie after wrapping up Rajinikanth's Coolie.

He said that, “I kept the Rolex scene to finish Vikram with a high. Since I’ve elevated the Rolex character, I will now make a standalone Rolex film. After completing Coolie, I plan to create a peak LCU film featuring all the actors from the LCU.” He further said, "As the LCU universe has started, it has to be closed properly. So next 5 years movie will be coming under LCU universe."

What’s next for Lokesh Kanagaraj?

Lokesh Kanagaraj is currently gearing up for the release of his upcoming film Coolie. The movie marks his first collaboration with Rajinikanth. Talking about the Thalaivar starrer during his recent interaction, the filmmaker said that he will try to finish the shoot in the next six months. 

Coolie was officially announced in September 2023 under the tentative title Thalaivar 171, as Rajinikanth's 171st film as a lead actor and the official title was announced in April 2024.

Coolie is an Tamil action thriller, which also has cast including Nagarjuna, Soubin Shahir, Shruti Haasan, Sathyaraj, and others. It is scheduled to release worldwide in 2025 in standard and IMAX formats.
