Nayanthara Finds Support Of Dhanush's Co-Stars In Naanum Rowdy Dhaan Rights Case, ₹10 Crore Lawsuit

Dhanush Vs Nayanthara: Nayanthara shocked everyone with her open letter against Dhanush, calling out the latter for not letting her use film footage from Naanum Rowdy Dhaan for her Netflix wedding documentary Nayanthara: Beyond The Fairytale. In the letter, she also accused Dhanush of harbouring a personal grudge against her and her husband, filmmaker Vignesh Shivan. According to the Jawan actress, Dhanush has demanded ₹10 crore from her for using a three-second snippet of songs from Naanum Rowdy Dhaan, in which the latter was a producer.

The scathing letter also mentioned that Nayanthara pursued Dhanush for two years for the rights to the clips from the 2015 movie and an NOC letter, but was denied. On social media, both actors became the topic of discussion and quickly became top trends. Some actresses who have worked with Dhanush in the past seemed to support Nayanthara in the matter.

After receiving a legal notice from Dhanush over the use of Naanum Rowdy Dhaan footage in her wedding documentary, Nayanthara said that she would "respond to it befittingly through lawful means". She also described the National Award winner as a "vile" person and called into question his character.

Nayanthara's post was liked by Anupama Parameswaran, Nazriya Nazim, Parvathy Thirovothu and Aishwarya Lekshmi, an indication that they were siding with the former in the battle against Dhanush. Parvathy, Dhanush's co-star in the 2013 movie Maryan, reposted Nayanthara's open letter on her Instagram Stories with namaste emojis.

While the exact details of the alleged dispute between Nayanthara and Dhanush have not been known yet, the actress' claims have sparked discussions within the industry. Dhanush has not yet responded to Nayanthara's letter. For the unversed, Naanum Rowdy Dhaan featured Nayanthara opposite Vijay Sethupathi. It was directed by Vignesh Shivan. Dhanush backed the film under Wunderbar Films banner in 2015.
