Rajinikanth Greets Thalapathy Vijay Over 'Very Successful' Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam Conference

While speaking to the media outside his residence in Chennai, Rajinikanth congratulated Vijay on holding a conference of his party Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam.

Superstar Rajinikanth on Thursday greeted actor-politician Vijay over the latter's "very successful" maiden political conference held recently. However, the Jailer star refrained from commenting on any remarks made by the Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) leader during his October 27 state political conference held in Villupuram district. "He has held the conference very successfully. My greetings to him," Rajinikanth told in response to reporters' query on Vijay's political foray. The top star was talking to scribes outside his residence here after greeting his fans on Deepavali.

When Rajinikanth refused to comment on Vijay's political entry

Rajinikanth and Vijay are the cornerstones of Tamil cinema. The two stars are often pitted against each other by their fans. Earlier, on various occasions, Rajinikanth has declined to comment on Vijay's political entry. However, his remarks on Diwali came as a surprise to many.

Vijay gears up for Thalapathy 69

Vijay said he took the political plunge to serve the people and made the decision at the height of his career and sacrificing high remuneration. The GOAT actor is one of the highest paid actors of Tamil cinema said to be charging crores of rupees. He was seen in Venkat Prabhu's GOAT earlier this year in September. It remains the highest-grossing Tamil film of 2024. The pan-India movie is currently streaming on Netflix.

Before his full-fledged entry into politics, Vijay will shoot for his 69th film with director H Vinoth. The actor is said to charging a huge salary for the film, which is expected to be his last. Thalapathy 69 is said to set against a political backdrop. A teaser poster of the film has also hinted at it. It will also feature Mamitha Baiju, Pooja Hegde and Bobby Deol.
