Rajinikanth Opens Up About Vettaiyan, Says 'Will Be Very Different From Darbar'

Rajinikanth is gearing up for the release of his upcoming movie Vettaiyan, helmed by TJ Gnanavel. The movie will release on the occasion of Dusshera and the superstar has begun with the promotions. During a media interaction, Rajinikanth was asked to spill the beans about the action thriller. The actor compared his movie to Darbar, co-starring Nayanthara and said Vettaiyan has "huge expectations".

Rajinikanth opens up about Vettaiyan

Talking to the media, Rajinikanth said Vettaiyan has huge expectations among the audience and hopes that the movie will meet their expectations. "Both Darbar and Vettaiyan are cop films, but Vettaiyan will be very different from Darbar," he added. For the unversed, Rajini played the role of a police officer in Darbar, which earned mixed reviews from the audience.

What do we know about Vettaiyan?

Rajinikanth starrer Vettaiyan explores the tale of an encounter specialist IPS officer, who has been questioned for his decision to kill a criminal. The movie will throw light on Rajinikanth's character and his background story.

Earlier, TJ Gnanavel in an interview with 123Telugu said, "After Jailer’s massive success, the expectations on Rajini sir have increased a lot. Vettaiyan will have songs and fights as well. But I didn’t deviate from what I wanted to convey. We have seen films about encounter specialists before, but we have never seen their background stories. Vettaiyan throws light on their thinking process.”

Who else stars in Vettaiyan?

Besides Rajinikanth, the movie also stars Amitabh Bachchan , Rana Daggubati, Manju Warrier and Fahadh Faasil, among others. The music is composed by Anirudh Ravichander, and so far the makers have released three songs from the movie - Vettaiyan Birthday Teaser Music, Manasilaayo and Hunter Vantaa.

Apart from Vettaiyan, Rajinikanth also has Coolie in the pipeline, co-starring Nagarjuna and Shruti Haasan in the lead roles.
