Vettaiyan Box Office: Rajinikanth starrer action drama Vettaiyan hit the big screens on October 10 amid much anticipation. However, the film has grossly underperformed with collections falling below ₹1 crore mark in the third weekend, indicating that it might not be able to cross the ₹150 crore mark in India. Worldwide, though, the film is nearing ₹250 crore mark. However, by no measure has Vettaiyan been able to replicate the box office success of his Jailer.
Vettaiyan collection plunge by the day
Vettaiyan collection in Tamil fell below the ₹1 crore mark on its third Friday, October 25 as it managed to collect only ₹64 lakh. Even if business in other languages is taken into account, Vettaiyan failed to cross the ₹1 crore mark at the box office on its 16th day. The film opened to mixed reviews and soon, the collections started to reflect audiences' diminishing interest in it despite its star-studded cast. Now, reports have surfaced that Vettaiyan will be available for streaming on November 7.
Vettaiyan collection in India currently stands at ₹142.23 crore and ₹244.5 crore worldwide. Rajinikanth's last release Jailer was a smash hit with ₹604.5 crore gross business worldwide. The latest film of the Superstar has turned out to be a major disappointment for the makers and his fans.
