Vettaiyan: Rajinikanth Snapped At Bash As Film Struggles At Box Office, Netizens Say 'What Success'

Rajinikanth celebrated the success of his recently released movie Vettaiyan with music composer Anirudh Ravichander and the producers. However, netizens are confused as to why the makers are celebrating as the movie is struggling at the box office.

Rajinikanth celebrates Vettaiyan success

An industry tracker has shared the photo of Rajini posing with Anirudh, director TJ Gnanavel and the rest of the team. They all went to the superstar’s house to celebrate the movie’s opening weekend collections. “The #Vettaiyan core team along with @LycaProductions @RedGiantMovies_met up with #SuperstarRajinikanth to share their happiness over the film’s huge success!” read the caption.

Soon after the photo was uploaded, netizens flooded the comment section asking why the makers were celebrating. “Also I think lyca would have signed another project with RK to recover lossesssss .. ithuku oru end illaiya,” a user wrote. Another wrote, “What Success”.

Vettaiyan witnesses major drop on Monday

The action thriller opened at ₹31.7 crore in India but witnessed a 24.29 per cent dip in the collection. However, since then the movie has maintained a steady pace until it hit Monday. A slight dip was expected in the first week of the day, but to everyone's surprise, there was a major drop in the collection.

On Monday, the movie earned ₹5.25 crore, per Sacnilk. Adding the five-day collection, the total stands at ₹110 crore. Vettaiyan had an overall 22.58 per cent Tamil occupancy on Monday with the maximum reported in Puducherry (35.75 per cent). Now, the movie is eyeing ₹120 crore and if it is able to earn over ₹120 then Vettaiyan will surpass Kamal Haasan starrer Indian 2's worldwide record.

Helmed by TJ Gnanavel and produced by Subaskaran's Lyca Productions, the star-studded film also ensemble included Rana Daggubati, Fahadh Faasil, Manju Warrier, Ritika Singh, Dushara Vijayan, and Abhirami.
