The makers of Vettaiyan, starring Rajinikanth, finally unveiled the trailer on Wednesday, October 2. Helmed by TJ Gnanavel, the action thriller shows Rajinikanth an Encounter Specialist, who justifies extrajudicial killings. However, Amitabh Bachchan , who plays the role of his senior, doesn't agree with him. The trailer offers a slightly bigger and deeper picture of their clash.

A look at Vettaiyan trailer

The over 2-minute trailer opens up with a mob protesting the arrest of the rape and murder accused. The protest spreads to other parts of the country while in the background we hear, "In this country, women have no safety; but scoundrels do". In the next frame, the Police are shown struggling to find evidence against the alleged culprit despite their best efforts. Owing to insufficient evidence to prove the alleged culprit guilty, they devise a plan for the encounter. Here enters Rajinikanth, who is introduced as an 'Encounter Specialist'. “It’s not wrong for the police to take the law into their own hands when injustice occurs, rather than remaining silent,” he says justifying extrajudicial killings.
