Anupamaa Crew Member Death: Production 'Buried News' Fearing FIR, Continued Shooting Post Accident

Anupamaa: A camera attendant on sets of popular TV show died following electrocution earlier this week, All India Cine Workers Association has alleged. Police have registered an FIR against contractor for negligence. Helined by Rupali Ganguly, Anupamaa is produced by Rajan Shahi and Deepa Shahi under banner of Director's Kut Productions. As of now, team has been silent on matter and has not released a statement.

AICWA reveals identity of deceased crew member on Anupamaa set

According to Suresh Gupta, president of All India Cine Workers Association (AICWA), a camera attendant named Vineet Kumar Mandal lost his life as re were "no safety measures" on set in Mumbai. producers didn't reply when PTI reached out for a comment. "Vineet Kumar Mandal was a camera attendant, who was on duty on sets of show Anupamaa, died due to electrocution on November 14 at 9.30 pm. re are no safety measures in place for our workers," Gupta said.

He ded, "It's s that such instances happen with workers. y didn't want this news to come out fearing an FIR against producers," claiming show's production continued on November 14 despite Mandal's death.

FIR registered in case, no arrests so far

Aarey Police has registered an FIR against electrical contractor for negligence, a police official said. "After death of Vineet Kumar Mandal (32) on November 14, we registered a case against electrical contractor under relevant sections of Bhartiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) Act, including negligence. No arrests have been me so far and furr investigation is underway," official ded.

If a worker dies on set, producers have to pay compensation to tune of ₹1 crore, ded Gupta. Anupamaa aired in July 2020 has since become one of most-watched shows on TV. It airs daily on TV channel Star Plus and streams digitally on Disney+ Hotstar.
