Often, the relationship of a father and child is considered as one of the most complicated and layered relationships. Bollywood and TV serials have also portrayed the complexity of this relationship. Dharamvir Malhotra in Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge (1995)

The film's subplot represented two types of fathers. On the one side, Baldev Singh played by Amrish Puri is a strict but loving father, and on the other side, Dharamvir Singh played by Anupam Kher is an understanding and jovial father. Kher's portrayal of the character was loved by the masses at that time and even today, fans considered him as one of the coolest father.

Jaiprakash Paswan in Chachi 420 (1997)

Kamal Hasan's directorial film Chachi 420 was released in 1997. The lead character Jai played by Kamal Hasan goes an extra mile to stay close to his only child after his divorce. Jai and his wife Janki file for divorce and to stay close to his daughter, he impersonates a middle-age female caretaker named 'Shrimati Lakshmi Godbole'. 

Rahul Khanna in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai(1998)

Kuch Kuch Hota Hai not only gave friendship goals to youths but Shah Rukh Khan's character Rahul as a single father was loved by masses. His love and care for his only daughter Anjali left fans in awe of the pair. The friendly and caring bond shared by the father and the daughter was appreciated by fans and critics alike.

Ishwar Chandra in Waqt: The Race Against Time (2005)

Amitabh Bachchan and Akshay Kumar-starrer film 'Waqt: The Race against Time' released in 2005. Amitabh Bachchan has essayed the role of a father in many movies, be it an irritating father in Piku or a cold-hearted father in Mohhabbatein. But his character Ishawar Chand is regarded as one of the unforgettable 'father' characters in tinsel town by his fans.

Mr Thappar in Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani (2013)

YJHD is regarded by many as one of the most popular coming-of-age Hindi movies in recent times. Each character of the film was appreciated by the critics and audiences for their story arcs as well as for the actors' performance. The role of the lead character father of lead character Bunny (essayed by Ranbir Kapoor) was portrayed by late Farooq Shaikh. His character always encouraged Bunny to work towards fulfilling his dreams.
