CID is considered one of the longest-running TV series in India is coming back with a new season after 6 years. The cult serial started in 1998 and ran for a little over two decades but went off air due to a rift between the show's producer and the channel in 2018. Characters including ACP Pradyuman, Daya, and Senior Inspector Abhijeet became household names, with their actors closely associated with these roles. Now, as the show prepares to return in a fresh format, featuring original cast members Shivaji Satam, Dayanand Shetty, and Aditya Srivastava, let's take a look back at what the CID stars were up to after the show went off the air.

CID has run 1547 episodes in total. The main cast included Shivaji Satam, Dayanand Shetty, Aditya Srivastava, and Dinesh Phadnis. Sadly, Dinesh Phadnis, who portrayed Fredericks, passed away in December 2023 due to liver complications.

While it’s often said that actors from popular shows struggle to find roles elsewhere, this has not been the case for the cast of CID.

Haseen Dillruba to De Dhakka 2: Shivaji Satam aka ACP Pradyuman got big leads after CID

Shivaji Satam received much love for his role as ACP Pradyuman in the TV series CID. Alongside this iconic role, he has acted in various Hindi and Marathi films, including Vaastav, Ghulam-E-Mustafa, Kurukshetra, Fiza, and Yeshwant. After CID ended, Satam continued his career with appearances in many films, series, and endorsements.

He starred as Rustum Mistry in the 2018 film Me Shivaji Park, appeared in the 2021 thriller Haseen Dillruba alongside Taapsee Pannu and Vikrant Massey and portrayed the head of the family in the 2022 comedy De Dhakka 2. In 2023, he featured in the TV series Ping Pong'd and the Marathi drama film Bamboo. His latest work includes the 2024 crime series Murder In Mahim.

Raat Akeli Hai to Bheed: Aditya Shrivastava shines as Abhijeet beyond television

Aditya Shrivastava aka Abhijeet of the CID team also did many films and series after the show went off air. Known for his intense characters, he starred in several popular projects over the years. He played lead roles, such as ACP Kishore in Super 30 (2019), Haseen Dillruba (2021), and Phir Ayi Haseen Dillruba (2024). In Raat Akeli Hai (2020), he delivered a memorable performance, and in Bheed (2023), a social drama directed by Anubhav Sinha, he portrayed Ram Singh, with the film streaming on Netflix.

In 2024, he appeared as Bansi Sahu in Bhakshak. Recently, he played V.K. Aggarwal in the TV mini-series IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack. This year, he also launched a reality series, Safarkhana with Aditya & Daya, alongside his CID partner.

CID’s Dayanand Shetty aka Daya recreated its cult move in many films

Dayanand Shetty is known for his iconic role as Senior Inspector Daya in the long-running television series CID. He was honoured by the Gold Awards Hall of Fame in 2018. After CID ended, Shetty transitioned to the big screen, where his famous ‘door-breaking’ scene was adapted into various action films.

In 2019, Dayanand Shetty appeared on Dangal TV in CIF, portraying Inspector Hanuman Panday. In The Tenant (2021), he played Detective Daya, while in Govinda Naam Mera (2022), he took on the role of Inspector Javed Khan. Later in the years, Daya continued his film journey with roles in Yaan Superstar (2023) as Bala Krishna, and The Creator: Sarjanhar (2023) as Dr. Ray.
