Emmy Award: Nawazuddin Siddiqui has 2 reasons to cheer in nominations
Two series featuring Nawazuddin Siddiqui featured in Best Drama category of International Emmy Awards. Sacred Games and McMafia are both among the nominations.

Indian films have been nominated for the Oscars Best Picture just thrice, ‘Lagaan’, ‘Salaam Bombay’ and ‘Mother India’, and fans feel unhappy every year when the official entries don’t make it to the main list. However, on the digital medium, Indian ventures are making a mark on the international platform. ‘Sacred Games’, ‘Lust Stories’ and ‘The Remix’ made it to the nominations of the International Emmy Award that were announced on Thursday and was considered as a massive achievement. Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s ‘Sacred Games’ made it to the Best Drama category in the nominations, after which he had gone gaga over his director and frequent collaborator Anurag Kashyap. However, that was not all for Nawazuddin, as his venture ‘McMafia’ too has been nominated in the same category. The ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’ star congratulated the team, that consists of actors from 12 countries. Nawazuddin Siddiqui also conveyed his wishes to his ‘Sacred Games’ co-star Radhika Apte, who has been nominated for Best Actress award and the team of her film ‘Lust Stories’ that is also among the nominees for the Best Miniseries.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui on McMafia
Taking to Twitter on Friday, Nawazuddin Siddiqui wrote, “Hearty Congratulations to James Watkins & James Norton & to all the actors from 12 countries for our show #McMafia being nominated at the prestigious Emmy Award, also a big hug to Radhika Apte and team Lust Stories for being nominated.”

‘McMafia’ is an eight-episode series that had aired on the BBC One Network and Amazon Prime in January and February last year. The series deals with the portrayal of the various mafia organisations around the world. Nawazuddin Siddiqui had played the role of Dilly Mahmood, an Indian character in the series.
Apart from ‘Sacred Games’ and ‘McMafia’, the other nominees in the Best Drama category are ‘One Against All’ and ‘Bad Banks’.

Nawazuddin on Sacred Games
Earlier, Nawazuddin had exulted over the nomination for ‘Sacred Games’. He had tweeted, “Congratulations #AnuragKashyap you beauty, the epitome of innovation in Cinema, making Indians proud across the world, First for GOW being the only Indian film shortlisted by the Guardian & secondly Sacred Games being nominated at the Emmy's 3 Cheers to Vikram, Neeraj & Team SG.”
