Emmy Awards 2020

After numerous global events had been cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all industries are finally ‘moving on’. While sports matches are being held sans audiences, the entertainment industry has taken to virtual events. For the first time, the Primetime Emmy Awards are being held virtually, and though a different experience, the excitement levels are high.

The awards are being held at the Staples Center in downtown Los Angeles with all social distancing rules in place. Jimmy Kimmel is hosting the event, and will have to make do without the usual laughs he’s expect from a full house.

All eyes are on HBO’s Watchmen that has received 26 nominations in all, already bagging seven awards at the Creative Arts Emmy. The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel with 20 nominations, Ozark with 18, The Mandolarian and Schitt’s Creek with 15 nominations and Quibi with 10 nominations are among the other ventures to be in the running, with Netflix’s record-breaking 160 nominations ruling the roost.
