Ka***i: Rupali Ganguly Recalls Being Abused By Elderly Woman For Playing Vamp In Sanjivani

Rupali Ganguly played a negative role in Sanjivani. She recalled how an elderly woman hurled abuse at her while she was out and about in Mumbai.

Rupali Ganguly's TV show Anupamaa, which airs on Star Plus, premiered in 2020 and quickly became a hit with audiences. Of late, show has been mired in several controversies, including death of a crew member on set and exit of main cast after a time leap. In a recent roundtable conference, Rupali revealed how love and hate TV audiences give to characters is real. She emphasised more on hate aspect actors face for playing a villainous role when she recalled an incident of being abused on streets by a woman.

Rupali recalls playing a negative character in Sanjivani

Ruapali looked back at time when she played different roles on TV and how people's perceptions of her changed as she moved on from one role to or. She said that people have responded negatively to her villain roles and positively to her good roles. Her statements went on to shed light on how lines between reel and real blurred for audiences.

"I play an out-and-out negative role in Sanjivani. One of doctors was turning negative (in show) so y me it like a typical TV drama. I said ok and played role but hate is real, hate is very real. Me and Gurdeep (Kohli) we were going to Lokhandwala market when an elderly woman came up to us and took Gurdeep aside and told her 'Tu iske saath mat ghoomna, yeh raise hi hai'," Anupamaa star said. Rupali recalled that woman hurled an abuse at her while going away, saying, "I felt so b."

When Rupali became a vamp for her far

Rupali furr shared that her far, Anil Ganguly, was worried about her marriage as she turned a "vamp" on TV. "Forget m, my far being a filmmaker, said meri beti toh vamp ban gayi, isse shi kaun karega. He genuinely meant it. n Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai came, everyone thought that I was a bimbette. After Anupamaa came, people now come up to me and say, 'Isse door rehna. Isse mat milna'. This has been so good."
