KBC 11: When Amitabh Bachchan feared Jaya Bachchan's 'belan' after marriage criteria talk

Bollywood has always been a good example of breaking stereotypes when it comes to marriage. Younger men have got married to older women, some men have married more successful women and men have also married women taller than them, unlike the ‘conventions’ related to a ‘match.’ As far as height is concerned, the man is usually expected to be taller than the woman, but not so much also that the difference is more than a foot. However, Amitabh Bachchan-Jaya Bachchan have shown that height is hardly a criterion as far as successful marriages are concerned. Big B recently quipped over his height difference with his wife, after a contestant on his TV show Kaun Banega Crorepati chose for marriage a woman matching his height. The megastar joked that he was not the right person to talk about it, since he might have to face attack from Jaya if he speaks about it.

During one of the recent episodes of Kaun Banega Crorepati, Amitabh Bachchan opened up on the height difference between spouses, also mentioning about the height difference between him and Jaya Bachchan. Later, he introduced the rollover contestant of the day, Chandan Kumar, and said that he was about to get married after his and his would-be wife’s height matched. Big B then indicated that it was better for him to not advice Chandan anything on that criteria for marriage, or else he will have to face the ‘belan’ (roti roller) at home. His statement left the entire studio in splits. 

The height difference between Amitabh-Jaya Bachchan had played a sweet role, on the big screen, in Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham. The real-life couple had played spouses in the film. Jaya Bachchan was seen standing on a stool whenever she would get the tie ready on Amitabh Bachchan in the movie.

Workaholic Big B 

Meanwhile, the eleventh season of Kaun Banega Crorepati is gearing up for its finale soon. The actor has been shooting continuously for the show during the last few days, despite being hospitalised recently. Big B even put up a 12-hour working schedule for the shoot recently.
