The eleventh season of Kaun Banega Crorepati has been filled with several memorable moments. Many contestants managed to become ‘Crorepatis’ in KBC 11, and even took a shot at the jackpot question of Rs 7 crore. The stories of many of the contestants too inspired the viewers throughout the course of this season. There was a controversy too and other headline-grabbing moments as well. As the season geared up for a grand finale amid the millionaires and winners of hefty amounts, a recent episode showed that fortune does not always favour the brave. A politician from Lucknow recently was so unfortunate for a question related to his field, that even after using two lifelines, he could not answer it. Even the audience erred in helping him give the right answer, as he left with just Rs 10,000.

Sarabjeet Singh Makkar, a politician from Lucknow, recently appeared on the Amitabh Bachchan-hosted show. He was playing well and earned Rs 80,000 after answering five questions correctly.  However, the sixth question turned out to be a tricky one for him. The question was: Which of these chief ministers is not an alumnus of the Doon School, Dehradun? The options given were A) Kamal Nath, B) Naveen Patnaik, C) YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and D) Amarinder Singh.

Makkar first used the ‘50-50’ lifeline, which even surprised Amitabh Bachchan. He believed that most contestants usually use the ‘Audience poll’ option first. The 50-50 option eliminated options A and B, the CMs of Madhya Pradesh and Odisha, Kamal Nath and Naveen Patnaik, respectively.

However, the use of the lifeline did not help the contestant and he had no option but to use another lifeline. Despite just two options to choose between the CMs of Punjab and Andhra Pradesh, the audience gave the highest votes to Amarinder Singh. Makkar went ahead with the audience votes.

However, the whole studio was in shock after Amitabh Bachchan revealed that the answer was incorrect; the correct answer was YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. Even Amitabh Bachchan felt that Makkar faced ‘bad luck’, as a result of which, his earnings fell from Rs 80,000 to merely Rs 10,000. However, Makkar shared an interesting anecdote with his mother on the show.
