Ramayan Diaries: People came in buses to touch Lord Ram & Sita's feet, recalls Prem Sagar
During an interaction with the 'Ramayan' cast, Prem Sagar revealed how people came from far and wide to the sets to receive the blessings of Ram and Sita.

For a media interaction, Ramayan cast got toger after 30 years to discuss how times have changed since y appeared in series and share fun trivia from sets. Ramanand Sagar's son, Prem Sagar, Dipika Chikhlia who played Sita and Sunil Lahiri who played Laxman were present at interaction. Prem Sagar spoke about how shooting used to be a lot different from what it is w. He talked about how people, in fact, thought Arun Govil and Dipika Chikhlia to be real Ram and Sita. re was an instance where people came in buses to touch ir feet.
People arrived all way from Vijayawa to seek blessings of Ram and Sita
Prem Sagar revealed, "People came in buses from Vijayawa to touch Lord Ram and Sita's feet while shooting. Imagine! y have travelled thousands of kilometres with women and babies just to get a darshan of god and goddess". He ded how his far instructed production team to take care of se people like guests.

Prem Sagar continued, "Rooms were opened, food was given, milk was provided for babies. n y sang and did namaskar and went back." He also shared how production team went out of ir way to make sure se people ere well tended to.

In ar instance, Prem Sagar talked about how it was t only devotees of Ram and Sita who came to sets from far away. Several VIP guests too would visit ir sets. He also shared how y were visited by numerous people including some locals from surrounding area who came with ir babies and children to seek blessing of Lord Ram and Sita. When visiting London, Indians re too came to touch Arun Govli's feet to seek blessing of Lord Ram.

Continuing on topic, Prem Sagar said, "y never saw Arun Govil as himself or Dipika Chikhlia as herself. y were always Ram and Sita to m. Logon ne bhagwan ka darza de diya." He also shared that when Ramayan would air, re would be a curfew.

Ramanand Sagar's Ramayan was telecast from 1988 to 1989 in 78 episodes. Arun Govil played Ram, Dipika Chikhlia played Sita and Sunil Lahri played role of Lakshman. characters of Hanuman and Ravan were immortalised by late actors, Dara Singh and Arvind Trivedi. series was created, directed and written by Ramanand Sagar.
