Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayan h a very hectic shooting schedule
shooting of auspicious show, Ramayan, went on for over 78 weeks. During this time, Bombay-Umergaon route h cars plying and trains loed with Ramayan crew, as re was particular call sheets and fixed schedules. cast and crew of show h to be on ir toes, as even if Ramanand Sagar finished writing a scene at 3 am, scene would be shot right n. Over 100 workers, actors, and technicians worked round clock in shifts, to ensure that all episodes of Ramayan would be telecasted in time every week.

Ramanand Sagar’s son, Prem Sagar once revealed during an interview with a leing entertainment daily, that re were computers for special effects to be created back n, and most of m h to be done using camera. y used a few techniques such as back projection, miniatures, etc. to do trick. Many times for night shoots, y used cotton posted on glass to create cloud effects. Slides were used in slide projectors, and scenes like Lord Shiva dancing in Himalayas was shot with a slide projected on a screen with miniature planets in background. For scenes involving mountains and different forests, many times, miniature models of 10-15 feet were used.
Prem Sagar continued to reveal that a new machine SEG 2000 (Special Effects Generator) h launched in market a little later, and from n, all special bow and arrow effects were done using it. re were mechanical effects and glass matting for creating special effects. y even used Dhoop and incense sticks to create early morning fog effects.

It is motivating to kw amount of hard work and dedication that went in to create Ramayan for television audiences. Ramayan still remains to be a very high rated TRP show.
