Rick And Morty: Pop-culture references in S4-Ep 1 | Spoilers ahead

The animated show Rick and Morty are back with its fourth season. After a break of two years after season three, the first episode of the fourth season has aired on the streaming platform, Adult Swim. Rick and Morty's fourth season premiere episode was released and the fans are surprised to see the crazy adventure where Morty kills Rick. The episode is about a death stone that shows one's death. Morty gets addicted to living according to the stone while Rick is trying to get back to life. There are many pop-cultural references in this episode here are the most prominent references in episode one.
Edge of Tomorrow Live. Die. Repeat.
Rick and Morty episode number one for season 4 is titled Edge of Tomorty: Rick Die Rickpeat which matches with a title of a Tom Cruise movie titled Edge of Tomorrow. In this episode just like Tom Cruise in the movie Morty also gets the ability to see his death and tries to change the course of his life by where he ends his life with Jessica by his side.

The movie also spent a lot of time speaking about this manga story which was made into an anime show. Morty to save himself from the bullies (societal-evils) he fights them all with Rick’s advanced weapons. This is a reference that was also seen in the trailer of the show. And in the end, he surrenders as he feels bad.

Avengers
In the court, the judge says that Morty has turned 13 people into ashes. This is a reference to Avenges Infinity War as we could only see the Avenges getting dusted and a few also die. This was one of the subtle references in the episode.

Coco
There is a small reference the bully makes to Coco. The bully asks Morty will he be still strutting if he (Morty) dies. Bully also says that only if he believed in the ideas of the movie Coco and says he does not believe in it. To which Morty says I have no authority over it as he can only see till his death and not beyond it.

Matrix
Morty is followed by a hologram of Rick just like a ghost. When the AI hologram of Rick keeps joking and showing human-like attributes the whole show. Nearing the third act of the show we can see Morty in a Matrix-like structure where Morty is kept safe just like Neo was kept in Matrix. Rick comes back from different dimensions and takes the death stone away from him. The AI Rick takes advantage of this and makes a real body with mass and grows to become a giant monster. Wasp Rick kills him and saves the day.
