Netflix is all set to drop its first Mandarin original from Malaysia, and it is titled Ghost Bride. It is based on a vel by same name written by Yangsze Choo. According to reports, show is set in 1890’s Malacca and audience will get to see a Malaysian Chinese woman struggling with her family’s debt. Things get better when she gets a chance to get out of situation but cure happens to be worse than disease.

plot of this supernatural show revolves around trition of ghost weddings which is common in Chinese trition. idea is that those who die unmarried are t left alone in ir afterlife; thus a marri takes place where one or both parties are de. show will also feature a murder mystery and matters of ‘or’ world.

Where was Ghost Bride filmed?
Ghost Bride is shot at multiple locations in Malaysia and crew h to travel a lot. Some of locations include Perak, Penang, Johor, Taiping, and Ipoh. According to Quek Shio-Chuan, co-director of Ghost Bride, majority of filming was done in Iskandar Puteri, Johor Baru. It is set in Melaka but so many of herit sites y filmed in were so well-preserved and suited era. y h references that y could replicate and y did so.

majority of ‘or-worldly’ scenes are shot in Iskandar Malaysia studio. makers of film felt that while warm colours and vibrant tones of Malacca have stemmed from smart location choices, makers took help of studio to shoot for scenes which h a darker undertone, especially scenes that will feature underworld. Fans are highly anticipating release of Ghost Bride.
