Dekh Bhai Dekh

Produced by veteran actor Jaya Bachchan, show was an out-and-out family entertainer. It first aired on Doordarshan in 1993. Dekh Bhai Dekh h an interesting ensemble of Shekhar Suman, Farida Jalal, Sushma Seth, Bhavna Balsavar, Urvashi Dholakia, Navin Nischol, Vishal Singh, amongst ors. show was a huge hit as it dealt with trials and tribulations of regular day-to-day life in a joint family, with a comic twist. In fact, it is amongst first few shows which were shot in London during 1990s, which was a big deal at that time.

Hip Hip Hurray

teen-drama series directed by Nupur Asthana was a r amongst youngsters. show revolved around lives of a group of school students and ir issues related to love, friendship, and family. Hip Hip Hurray also highlighted sensitive topics like substance abuse and complicated relationships, etc, through its progressive story. show mand to garner a lot of attention from its first episode itself, and h a successful stint on Zee TV for good four years. All characters from show became extremely popular and so did actors. Purab Kohli, Vishal Malhotra, Kishwar Merchant, Shabbir Ahluwalia and Vinay Pathak were faces of show.

An exception to typical saas-bahu drama was show Saans, which worked on lines of an extramarital affair and infidelity.  show was much ahe in time in terms of its story plot and screenplay. Neena Gupta and Kawaljit Singh played an estranged couple in show. Neena Gupta’s character (Priya), that of a single mor who becomes brewinner of her family after getting separated from her husband, became hugely popular. show also h Kavita Kapoor in a pivotal role. An astounding fact is that Saans was also directed by Neena Gupta, which first aired on Star Plus in year 1998.
