Allu Arjun’s father Allu Aravind asks ‘who was Yash before KGF?', upset fans criticise the producer

Allu Arjun’s father and ace producer Allu Aravind's recent comment about actor Yash has grabbed the attention of social media users. At the teaser launch of Kotabommali PS, the filmmaker spoke about whether an actor’s fees impact the overall budget of movies. He also commented that actors tend to increase their fees after delivering box-office hit movies. In the same conversation, he mentioned Yash’s name as an example which did not go down well with the actor’s fans. 

Allu Aravind says not the lead actor’s role but the film’s making impacts the movies 

Allu Aravind was sharing details about his production house - Geetha Arts. He commented that in high-budget films, the actor’s remuneration does not amount to much of the budget. He said, “The lead actor of a movie gets only 20 to 25 per cent of the film’s budget as remuneration. So, it is not true that the budget for the film will increase because of his fees alone. On top of actors’ fees, a lot of money is spent to make the movie a big venture.”

The filmmaker gave the example of the KGF franchise led by Yash. He asserted that films work because of the ‘richness of production’ and not necessarily the actors. He commented, “Who was Yash before the release of the KGF movie? Why did that movie make noise? It was that richness that led to the success of the movie. This is just one example. Whoever the hero of the movie is, it is because of the making that it attracts the audience”

Allu Aravind’s comment draws flak on social media 

The producer’s opinion on Yash did not go down well with moviegoers as well as Yash’s fans. Social media users were quick to point out that Yash is a self-made actor who made it in the industry on his merit and not with the help of a family, unlike Allu Arjun. Some users, “Yash came to Industry without background and his father was a bus driver and Allu Arjun came from his father's support. Now everyone decides who is great.” Another user wrote, “KGF is special only because of Yash. It is unimaginable without him. That is his contribution.” 

Who is Yash?

Yash is one of the biggest stars in the Kannada Film Industry. Before KGF, the actor had delivered many hits such as Googly and Mr and Mrs Ramachari. The actor made his acting debut as a TV actor in the show Uttarayana. Later, in 2005, the actor joined teleserial opposite Radhika Pandit, where the couple fell in love. Now married, the couple is parents to two kids. Currently, Yash is working on the third installment of KGF.
