Double iSmart On OTT: The Ram Pothnineni Starrer Premieres Online Following Lukewarm BO Reception

Sanjay Dutt’s film Double iSmart was released in theatres on Independence Day on August 15 with Stree 2 and Vedaa. Produced by Puri Jagannadh and Charmme Kaur’s Puri Connects, the film stars Telugu actor Ram Pothineni in the lead role. The film is the sequel to Jagannadh and Pothineni’s 2019 superhit sci-fi action film iSmart Shankar, which follows an assassin who aids the police after the memories of a murdered officer are transferred to his brain. Although the film received poor reviews, it has now been streaming on OTT platforms a month after its release. =

When and where to watch Double ISmart?

As per reports, Double iSmart Shankar is now available on Amazon Prime Video. It has been released on OTT today, September 5. The film is available in multiple languages including, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada dubs, both in India and across 240 countries and territories starting today. The film debuted on OTT just under three weeks after its theatrical release. It failed to make an impact on audiences, receiving criticism for its weak writing and storyline.

While the film's first part achieved massive box office success, despite some criticism for its sexist themes, the sequel did not meet expectations. Bani J, Ali, and Sayaji Shinde played important roles, but Ali’s comedic scenes faced backlash for being in poor taste. Additionally, netizens suggested earlier, that the film did not offer much appeal, and Mani Sharma's music was considered mediocre.

According to Sacnilk, Sanjay Dutt’s film Double iSmart did poorly at the box office. Despite a hefty budget of reportedly ₹90 crores, the film only managed to earn ₹14.35 crores, failing to make an impact. The film couldn't compete with the successful Stree 2.
