Kannappa Actor Vishnu Manchu Seeks Protection Of His Personality Rights, HC Passes Interim Order
The bench of Justice Mini Pushkarna issued interim orders against those misusing Manchu's image, directing them to stop publishing defamatory content.

Telugu actor and producer Vishnu Manchu is currently preparing for his upcoming film Kannappa. He has been part of several notable films including, Astram, Game, Dhee, Doosukeltha, Rowdy and Anukshanam among others. The actor was recently embroiled in a legal matter when he filed a complaint against persons using his face and voice for unauthorised use.
Delhi High Court grants Vishnu Manchu interim protection
According to a report by LiveLaw, the Delhi High Court has recently passed a John Doe order to protect the personality rights of Indian actor and film producer Vishnu Manchu. Justice Tara Vitasta Ganju heard a petition on October 11. For the unversed, the term John Doe is used to identify the unknown defendant in the order.
This comes after Vishnu Manchu started fighting against YouTube channels that spread derogatory content about film stars. So far, 75 YouTube links and channels have been removed due to Vishnu’s warning and YouTube strikes. There has been a counter-strike by YouTubers and content creators who claim that their freedom of speech is being killed.
Vishnu Manchu who is also the president of MAA (Movie Actors Association) cited that his name “Vishnu Manchu” has garnered a significant amount of goodwill in the film industry. Citing these reasons, he stated that nobody can utilise or appropriate his name or any aspect of his personality without his consent and authorisation.
What’s next for Vishnu Manchu?
Vishnu Manchu is currently busy with his upcoming film Kannappa. The film also features Akshay Kumar , Malayalam megastar Mohanlal, Telugu star Prabhas and his Kannada cinema counterparty, Shiva Rajkumar.
A legendary figure from religious folklore, and the inspiration for the film, Kannappa was a hunter and devoted follower of Lord Shiva. As the story goes, he gouged out an eye as an offering to a lingam in his bid to meet the Lord in person. He was about to sacrifice his second eye when Shiva appeared in front of him and blessed him. Kannappa continues to be worshipped as one of the 63 Shaivite saints known as the Nayanars.
