Despite actor being praised for his performance, movie remained under ₹1 crore, becoming his career's lowest opening. It was expected that on second day, movie would see a spike, but inste, it's stey.

Helmed by Karuna Kumar, movie minted ₹70 lakh at box office in India, early estimates reported by Sacnilk. On first day, movie earned ₹71 lakh at domestic box office. ding two-day collection, total stands at ₹1.41 crore. Matka h an overall 14.56 per cent Telugu occupancy on Friday with maximum reported in Visakhapatnam (20.25 per cent).

Varun is going through a rough patch in his career as his recently released movie Matka is also struggling at box office. actor was hoping that he would make his comeback with this movie but it turned out to be a failure.

What is plot of Matka?

movie, also starring Meenakshii Chaudhary and Nora Fatehi, takes place between 1958 and 1982 and is based on a real incident that shook entire nation and story is set in backdrop of Vizag. story spans 24 years, following life of Vasu, a prominent Matka gambler and gangster. Apart from Telugu, movie has also released in  Hindi, Tamil, Kanna and Malayalam.
