Matka OTT: Varun Tej Starrer Streaming Rights Sold For A Whopping ₹15 Crore?

Varun Tej starrer Matka hit big screens on November 14, alongside Suriya’s film Kanguva. action movie narrates a classic rags-to-riches story and opened to a decent reception. In latest development, film has been sold to OTT platform for a whopping amount.

Directed by Karuna Kumar, period crime drama has failed to make a significant impact at box office. Despite Varun’s brilliant performance, period crime fell short of expectations. According to several reports, Matka’s streaming rights have been sold to popular OTT platform Amazon Prime Video for a whopping ₹15 crore. But, drawback in here is, budget of around ₹45 crore, recovering amount through atrical revenue seems highly unlikely. How movie fares at box office is a major concern now.

As per reports of Sacnilk, Matka performed well on its first 3 days at box office and earned ₹2.12 crore in India net. On fourth day, film earned around ₹0.44 crore. Matka’s total collection now stand at ₹2.56 crore.

Matka h an overall 17.22% Telugu Occupancy on Sunday, November 17, 2024. highest has been recorded in Visakhapatnam (23%), Bengaluru (22.25%), Hyderab(18.25%), Chennai (15.33%) and Nizamab (10.50%).

Matka stars Meenakshii Chaudhary and Nora Fatehi. film takes place between 1958 and 1982 and is based on a real incident that shook entire nation and story is set in backdrop of Vizag. story spans 24 years, following life of Vasu, a prominent Matka gambler and gangster. Apart from Telugu, movie has also released in  Hindi, Tamil, Kanna and Malayalam.
