Mr Bachchan Controversy: Right before the Telugu film hit the big screens on August 15, Ravi Teja’s upcoming feature Mr Bachchan is making headlines. However, CBFC has recommended some modifications to it.

Changes made in Ravi Teja’s Mr Bachchan

According to a report in Bollywood Hungama, Mr Bachchan was granted a U/A certificate by the CBFC, but only after several modifications were made. One of the most significant changes was the removal of a poster featuring Amitabh Bachchan and Rekha during the title roll. As per the CBFC’s directive, the poster was replaced with one featuring Amitabh Bachchan alongside his wife, Jaya Bachchan.

More changes made to Mr Bachchan by CBFC

A disclaimer has been added in the beginning, observing that the film is fictional and doesn’t bear resemblance to any person or place. Then, an over 2-minute scene of a young child smoking a beedi has also been censored. The beedi has been replaced with a pencil.

Then, in four places, certain words and abuses have been muted or replaced. Once these changes were made, the CBFC cleared the film on August 13, which is two days before its release. Reportedly, the length of the film, as mentioned on the censor certificate, is 2 hours and 38 minutes.

About Mr Bachchan

Directed by Harish Shankar and produced by TG Vishwa Prasad under People Media Factory, Mr Bachchan is Ravi Teja's third project with Shankar, following Shock (2006) and Mirapakay (2011). The film introduces Bhagyashri Borse as the female lead in her debut role.

Mr Bachchan, a stylish action-drama set in the 1970s, pays homage to the cinema of that era, with a background score reminiscent of the Don title song and other nods to Amitabh Bachchan's legacy. For the unversed, Mr Bachchan is based on the real-life income tax raid conducted on Indian industrialist Sardar Inder Singh.
