The discussion around upcoming Prabhas-starrer film Salaar has been rife with comparisons of all kinds. While some Kannada film fans are claiming that it looks too similar to director Prashanth Neel’s debut work Ugramm, many netizens also commented on social media that the look and feel of Salaar is too reminiscent of Neel’s KGF franchise movies, the films that catapulted both the director and Kannada actor Yash to nation-wide fame. Now, in a recent media interaction, actor Prithviraj Sukumaran has addressed this line of criticism.
I am a big Prashanth Neel fan: Prithviraj
Talking about the similar visual feel of KGF and Salaar, Prithviraj stated, “I am a big Prashanth Neel fan. If his next film after KGF Chapter 2 would have opened with a nicely backlit shot of a tourist spot in Amsterdam, I would have been really disappointed.”
While Prithviraj also clarified that he understands the grounds for these comparisons, he also added that after watching Salaar, nobody could possibly hold on to these notions. The Aiyyaa actor stated, “Having seen both KGF 2 and Salaar, I can tell you that 10 minutes into Salaar, you will no longer be reminded of the comparisons.”
Prithviraj expresses his desire to do all language films
Talking about maintaining a variety in the kind of projects he chooses, Prithviraj added, “The next film I do is going to be the best script I have heard. So if the next best script I hear is in Assamese or Bhojpuri, I will do it. Luckily, For the past few years, the kind of cinema I have been able to do in Malayalam, it’s really exciting for me.” While Salaar is a Pan-India project, Prithviraj’s next film too is a Bollywood project - Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, the Ali Abbas Zafar directorial action-comedy where Prithviraj co-stars with Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff.
