Vijay Deverakonda Lost THIS Hit Telugu Horror Film To Harshavardhan Rane

Vijay was supposed to play Poorna’s husband in Avunu, but director Ravi Babu could not cast him due to some communication issues between the two.

Vijay Deverakonda is trying hard to emerge from the shadow of the sting of failures he has been witnessing at the box office of later. His last release, Parasuram's The Family Star with Mrunal Thakur put up an underwhelming show at the box office. As he prepares for his next projects, an interesting detail about him missing out on a film that later turned out to be a hit has surfaced.

Vijay was the first choice for this horror film

According to a report in 123 Telugu, the Arjun Reddy star missed out on being part of Ravi Babu’s successful horror thriller Avunu (2012). Vijay Deverakonda was supposed to play Poorna’s husband in the film, but Ravi Babu could not cast Vijay due to some communication issues between the two. Harshavardhan Rane played the male lead in Avunu, and the film was both a critical and commercial success.

Before offering Avunu to Vijay, Ravi Babu directed Vijay's debut film, the rom-com entertainer Nuvvila (2011). Meanwhile, Ravi Babu is currently busy with is upcoming project Rush.

Vijay's upcoming movies promise a strong comeback

After the box office failure of Liger, Kushi and The Family Star, Vijay is currently prepping for his role in Jersey fame Gowtam Tinnanuri's next, tentatively titled VD12. In it, the Dear Comrade actor will play the role of a cop for the first time. He will reportedly also undergo a body transformation for the role.

On his birthday, earlier this year, he announced VD14. The poster also had a tagline from the film, The Legend of the Cursed Land" Directed by Rahul Sankrityan, this movie promises to be a riveting rural set drama, which will take audiences back to the mid-19th century.
