The Freelancer trailer: Mohit Raina is on a rescue mission in war-torn Syria

The Freelancer will make its OTT debut on Disney+ Hotstar on  September 1. Ahead of its release, the makers released the show's trailer on Wednesday. It featured Mohit Raina as a combat-trained mercenary who is on a mission to save a girl from war-torn Syria.

Mohit Raina is a man on a mission 

The two-minutes-36-second long trailer of The Freelancer shows a girl marrying a man before relocating abroad. That man, however, turns out to be an Islamic terrorist who immediately takes his new bride and imprisons her there. Soon after the girl goes missing, the girl's father, who is portrayed by Sushant Singh, is killed in a confrontation. 

After his death, his combat-trained friend Avinash Kamath (Mohit Raina), a mercenary known as The Freelancer in the global spy network, goes on a mission to save the girl from the terrorists' grasp and return her to her family.

Mohit Raina sheds light on his character in The Freelancer 

Talking about his character in the show, Mohit told ANI, “The Freelancer is a story that touched my heart in several ways. Playing Avinash Kamath was challenging yet creatively satisfying. Despite fighting his interpersonal battles on a daily basis, Avinash embarks upon a mission like never before, as he sets foot to rescue Aliya."

The Freelancer is directed by Bhav Dhulia. While the Friday Storytellers is in charge of production, the show is created by Neeraj Pandey. It will start streaming on Disney+ Hotstar from September 1. Mohit Raina is famously known for playing Lord Shiva in the television show Devon Ke Dev – Mahadev. The actor was last seen in romantic drama Ishq-e-Nadaan, which released on JioCinema on 14 July earlier this year. He hasn't announced any new work projects as of now.
