It is w cleared that Child aka Grogu is t Jedi master Yoda from Star Wars film series. Rosario Dawson who me her debut in series as Ahsoka Ta unveiled that Grogu is from Yoda’s species, but wise Jedi master alrey exists in his prime . revelation gave perspective to fans on where show takes place in Star Wars timeline which is probably before rebels.
In an interview with Vanity Fair, Mandalorian Chapter 13 director Dave Filoni was asked why it was right time to reveal green kid’s origin and backstory. He said that he felt if anyone would kw or understand Child’s history it would be Ahsoka Ta. He stated that she has such a long history as well. filmmaker explained that by having her relate story it also helps viewer to understand some of her ir backstory. Filoni mentioned that this is similar to when Obi-Wan tells Luke about his far’s history. Through story about Anakin, people are getting a look at Obi-Wan and his backstory as well. A lot of campfire scene, as he calls it, is shaped around that scene between Obi-Wan and Luke in A New Hope.

Dave Filoni disclosed story behind Grogu’s name which was a secret until w. He said that name has been around for a while. He recalled that series creator, Jon Favreau told him early on in season one what it would be, which me him start to think about how people could learn name. This gave him idea that Ahsoka Ta, who is very compassionate, would be able to connect with Child, and that without words y could probably communicate through memories and experiences. Through that connection, she learns name and n tells Mando and audience, he ted.
