In an interesting public project, Pritzker Prize-winning architect Shigeru Ban has created ‘transparent’ toilets that have been installed in Tokyo. According to reports, toilets are me using a special coloured ‘smart glass’ that turns opaque when toilet is occupied.
So far, se talk of town ‘transparent’ toilets have been installed in five locations across Japanese capital’s Shibuya neighbourhood and project has been organised by a n-profit called Nippon Foundation.

As per reports, foundation said that when it comes to public toilet facilities, especially ones that are located in parks, two main concerns that people have are wher it is clean inside and if someone is hiding inside toilet.

According to reports, toilets also serve dual function of lighting up parks like lanterns. foundation also tes that Japan is rewned for its high standards when it comes to hygiene and project takes it a step forward.
Toto, maker of washlet brand, w boasts of its range of ‘smart’ toilets with features such as washing and drying modes and even features like seat warming. ‘smart’ toilets also boast ability to automatically open and close lids, international media reported.

As per reports, Nippon Foundation has stated that despite Japan’s high standards for toilet hygiene, public restrooms are believed to be unhygienic, dirty, and unsafe. se new invative ‘transparent’ toilets aim to allow passersby to see exactly conditions inside toilets before stepping in and also aims to motivate people who use se facilities to keep m clean. foundation plans to increase that number to 17 by end of summer.
