Fatman Scoop was a New York rapper known for his global hit Be Faithful, as well as collaborations with Missy Elliott, Mariah Carey, and Skrillex. He has passed away at the age of 53. The rapper gained fame with his 1999 single Be Faithful, which featured the Crooklyn Clan and sampled Chic, the same sample used in Faith Evans' Love Like This. This track became a club favourite in New York before achieving worldwide success after its re-release in 2003. Today on August 31, his family has confirmed the news, leading to an outpouring of grief and tributes online.

On August 30, Isaac Freeman III popularly known on stage as Fatman Scoop was rushed to the hospital after a medical emergency during his concert in Hamden, Connecticut. The following morning, August 31, his tour manager, Bryan "DJ Pure Cold" Michael, announced on social media that the rapper had passed away, though the cause of death was not disclosed.

TMZ obtained video footage showing Fatman, known for Be Faithful, encouraging the audience to "make some noise" before he suddenly collapsed on stage. This video is now circulating online.

Rapper Fatman's family releases statement on his death

The news of Isaac Freeman's death was confirmed by his family and Hamden Mayor Lauren Garrett in social media posts on Saturday, August 31. However, details about the medical emergency that caused his onstage collapse and the exact cause of death were not immediately made public.

The family described Freeman as "a radiant soul, a beacon of light on the stage and in life." They added that beyond being "a world-class performer," he was also "a father, brother, uncle, and friend." They continued, "He brought laughter to our lives, offering constant support, unwavering strength, and courage. Fatman Scoop was globally recognised as the undisputed voice of the club scene. His music inspired us to dance and embrace life with positivity. His infectious joy and generosity will be deeply missed but never forgotten." Freeman is survived by his son, daughter, and brother, as reported by ANI.
