As vehicle belonged to a Black person, incident has caused a huge outcry with people, accusing police officer of systemic racism.

As video drew backlash, a journalist identified officer as Officer Matw Gorney from Wisconsin state, US, who he said, was appearing to plant drugs on an incent Black male driver. foot came to tice of Wisconsin’s Caledonia Police Department Chief Christopher Botsch, who on behalf of department released an official statement saying that police department is taking matter “very seriously” and has launched an investigation.

“Earlier today, Caledonia Police Department was me aware of a cell phone video that is circulating social media platforms depicting actions of a Caledonia police officer,” Botsch wrote. “We were able to locate call for service associated with cell phone video. Caledonia Police Department is conducting a comprehensive internal review of incident.”
Furrmore, he ded, that police will probe two body cameras as well as dash cams. He urged that review will take some time and that cellphone video represented only a small portion of entire incident. ““ Caledonia Police Department believes strongly in transparency,” he stated. Black man meanwhile said in an Instagram post that he was detained “for a little while” but was t locked up. He threatened legal action. All squ cars in south Milwaukee suburb have dashboard cameras, Police chief Botsch meanwhile reminded.
In a subsequent statement released by police, cops said that vehicle was stopped for speeding. And that, before video was shot, passengers were removed from car and a search was conducted on one of passengers. Although, officers did t specify why were drivers searched for speeding. cops said in a statement that officer h pulled out an empty baggie from passenger's pocket, ding that “re were drugs in it.” searching officer n hurtled this plastic bag to ar officer who threw it back in car. Police emphasized that body was arrested.

"While we would discour officers from discarding items into a citizen’s vehicle, video is clear that officer is t planting evidence or doing anything illegal,” Police Chief Christopher Botsch said on Facebook.
