Fact Check: There have been a viral message shared on Whatsapp that a certain 'Amit Shah disowns Modi' video will hack phones, along with a number to block.

Republic received a Whatsapp forward from a reader, asking to check wher mess was true or false. This mess claimed that a particular video, when opened, will format phone and it is going viral on Whatsapp. mess claims that a video called ‘Amit Shah disowns Modi’ is being forwarded and is actually very dangerous. It is a virus and it formats phone as well. It furr claims that it was anunced on radio and that y are credit card or debit card hackers. A number is also given along in mess and people are asked to block this number.

'Amit Shah disowns Modi' video fraudulent?

number given in mess is 9266600223. On inserting number on Truecaller app, name 'Crd Cardit Card' pop up. number has been termed as spam by 31129 reports. It is an Airtel number and it belongs to Delhi.

Upon searching given number on Google, one comes across many articles that claim that forwarded mess is fake and misleading. A Fact Check done in year 2017 shows that a similar mess was sent as well. But, mess that was getting forwarded in 2017 was under name ‘Sonia disowns Rahul’. To be clear, re is such video, only a mess.

A hoax through years

Indian Whatsapp groups and social media are getting mess under titles of Amit Shah disowns Modi or Sonia disowns Rahul. A similar sort of mess about a video being a virus that will format phone and how it was anunced in radio was shared in or countries as well. re are two versions of this mess as well.

One version of mess states that video is called ‘Dance of Pope’. It claims that same information was also anunced on BBC radio. A news article in a leading daily has cleared fact re has been such anuncement on radio as well. very same mess is also being shared under name of ‘Martinelli’.

Martinelli hoax was shared in 2017-18 as well. mess claims about an IT expert advising about a video named Martellini being shared that was getting popular.  mess had similar claims of hacking phone and that it is able to spread data as well. Spanish Police had shared this same mess and called it fake and false.

Thus, it can be seen that it is just a hoax that just changes its shape while its core is just same. re is reality or any kind of truths in se messs. Indian government bodies or radio channels have sent out warnings about same as well. Thus, it is a fake mess.
