PresVu; Upcoming Eye Drops By ENTOD Pharma To Eliminate The Need For Reading Glasses

Gradual loss of eyesight with age is common, and the symptom is called Presbyopia. This condition occurs when the lens of the eye hardens and loses flexibility, making it difficult to focus on near objects.

Who is at risk of Presbyopia?

Nearly everyone over the age of 40 is at risk of experiencing Presbyopia, which can cause blurry or cloudy vision when trying to focus on nearby objects. This condition can disrupt daily activities, such as reading a newspaper or viewing a heartfelt message from grandchildren on a screen.

To address this issue and restore clearer vision, ENTOD Pharmaceuticals has received approval from the Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) to launch ‘PresVu,’ an eye drop made with pilocarpine to treat Presbyopia.

Significance of PresVu

While the exact launch date is yet to be announced, the ENTOD Pharmaceuticals' Presvu eye drops are expected to be available by the first week of October, as per reports.

PresVu will be the first eye drop of its kind in India to treat Presbyopia. These eye drops are specifically designed to reduce dependency on glasses to view near objects such as books and newspapers.

"This approval from the DCGI is a significant milestone in our mission to revolutionize eye care in India. PresVu is more than just a product; it's a solution that can enhance the lives of millions by providing greater visual independence," said Nikkhil K Masurkar, CEO of ENTOD Pharmaceuticals, in a statement to PTI.

How do you know you have Presbyopia?

According to the Mayo Clinic, you may notice Presbyopia when you start holding books and newspapers at arm's length to read them. A basic eye exam can confirm the condition. Presbyopia can be corrected with eyeglasses, contact lenses, or surgery.
