Want To Quit Smoking? WHO Recommends Seeking Help Of AI Apps

Don't quit using your phone, however quit smoking cigarettes with the help of AI-based applications such as Sarah, according to WHO.

The World Health Oganisation (WHO) recommends smokers to utilise the benefits of artificial intelligence (AI) based apps to quit smoking cigarettes "Digital tools like AI-based apps and text messaging can support your journey to quit tobacco. Use our digital health promoter to help you create a quit plan," WHO mentioned.

Do you know about SARAH?

Sarah is a prototype of a digital health promoter available 24/7 in eight languages via video or text. She can provide tips to destress, eat right, quit tobacco and e-cigarettes, as well as give information on several other health topics, according to WHO.

She uses generative AI as a base and has also been trained with information from the World Health Organization and trusted partners.

The Need To Use QuitBot

Fred Hutchinson Cancer Centre researchers, led by Dr Jonathan Bricker, launched an AI-powered chatbot app called QuitBot to help more people successfully quit smoking cigarettes. Available for free on Apple and Android devices, QuitBot is a comprehensive app that uses an AI-powered chatbot to provide users personalised support to quit smoking.

Developed using scientifically backed answers vetted by scientists and experienced smoking cessation clinicians, QuitBot combines evidence-based structured conversations to guide users through the process of quitting with the flexibility of specially trained AI to answer their questions about smoking.
