Jhansi Hospital Fire: 10 Children Killed, Rescue Operations Underway | LIVE

A massive fire erupted in the infant ward of Jhansi Medical College in Uttar Pradesh on Friday, claiming lives of 10 children while many others suffered burns.

Jhansi: A massive fire erupted in infant ward of Jhansi Medical College in Uttar Presh on Friday, claiming lives of 10 children while many ors suffered burn injuries.

Jhansi police said that fire brige was rushed to spot while senior officers of district also reached medical college.

According to officials, evacuation process is still underway. 

Expressing condolences over casualties in incident, Uttar Presh Chief Minister Yogi ityanath said that district ministration has been instructed to carry out rescue operations at war footing.

“ death of children in an accident that occurred in NICU of medical college located in Jhansi district is extremely s and heartbreaking. district ministration and concerned officials have been instructed to carry out relief and rescue operations on a war footing. I pray to Lord Shri Ram to provide salvation to departed souls and speedy recovery to injured,” Uttar Presh CM Yogi ityanath posted on X. 

  • Officials confirm 10 deaths in fire incident

“Prime facie it can be said that re have so far 10 deaths in incident,” Jhansi District Magistrate Avinash Kumar said.

“ death of many newborn babies in unfortunate accident of fire in Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (SNCU Ward) of Maharani Laxmi Bai Medical College, Jhansi today is extremely s and heartbreaking. I have instructed district ministration and concerned officials to conduct relief and rescue operations on a war footing. I myself am reaching accident site. I pray to Lord Shri Ram to provide peace to departed souls and speedy recovery to injured,” UP Deputy CM Pathak said. 

  • Short circuit in Oxygen concentrator caused fire incident: Officials 

Jhansi DM Avinash Kumar said that fire incident in hospital has been caused due to a short circuit in oxygen concentrator in infant ward.

  • Total 54 Children were mitted at time of incident: Jhansi CMO 

Jhansi Chief Medical officer Sachin Mahor said that 54 children were mitted at time of fire incident. “10 lost ir lives, while rest are undergoing treatment,” he said.
