A massive fire erupted in the infant ward of Jhansi Medical College in Uttar Pradesh on Friday, claiming lives of 10 children while many others suffered burns.

Jhansi police said that fire brige was rushed to spot while senior officers of district also reached medical college.

According to officials, evacuation process is still underway.
Expressing condolences over casualties in incident, Uttar Presh Chief Minister Yogi ityanath said that district ministration has been instructed to carry out rescue operations at war footing.

Jhansi DM Avinash Kumar said that fire incident in hospital has been caused due to a short circuit in oxygen concentrator in infant ward.

Jhansi Chief Medical officer Sachin Mahor said that 54 children were mitted at time of fire incident. “10 lost ir lives, while rest are undergoing treatment,” he said.
