11 Kuki Militants Killed In Encounter With Security Forces In Manipur's Jiribam, Gunfight Underway

Jiribam: A fierce gun battle broke out  on Monday between CRPF personnel and suspected militants from the Suspension of Operations (SOO) groups in Manipur 's Jiribam district, resulting in the martyrdom of one CRPF soldier. Sources reported that at least 11 militants were killed during the clash, although the exact number of casualties on the militant side remains unconfirmed.

The militants, identified as Kuki insurgents, had attacked the Borobekra Police Station (PS), where both state and central forces were stationed. 

The CRPF retaliated, gunning down 11 Kuki militants, according to sources. The confrontation occurred in the early hours of the day and escalated rapidly.

Two CRPF personnel also sustained injuries during the heavy exchange of fire that happened at Jakurador Karong in the Borobekra sub-division, as per the official.

Heavily armed militants torched several shops at Jakurador Karong, besides attacking some houses and a nearby CRPF camp, following which the gunfight broke out.

Five civilians were still missing, officials said, adding that it was not clear whether they were kidnapped by the retreating militants or were in hiding after the attack began.

The bodies of those killed were brought to the Borobekra police station.

The condition of one of the two injured CRPF personnel was stated to be serious.
