2 Spicejet Flights Receive Bomb Threat After Scare On 12 Aircraft

New Delhi: After bomb threats on 12 flights of Air India, Indigo, Akasa and others, two of the Spicejet aircraft also received bomb threats simultaneously prompting the airline staff to evacuate both the aircraft on Wednesday. While one Spicejet flight was scheduled from Darbhanga to Mumbai, another Spicejet flight was scheduled from Leh to Delhi. According to the airline, the threats were sent via direct message on X.

The concerned authorities were informed immediately about the threats, and the safety protocols laid down by the airlines were followed. The passengers on board both aircraft were disembarked safely, a SpiceJet spokesperson said.

After authorities granted the necessary approvals, the aircraft were released for further operations.

In the past three days, Indian airlines have received a total of 12 threats, the latest being the bomb threats to a Bengaluru-bound Akasa Air flight and Delhi-bound IndiGo flight. With today's threats to SpiceJet, this tally has now reached 14.

The SpiceJet spokesperson said, “On October 16, 2024, SpiceJet’s x handle received a direct message indicating a bomb threat concerning two flights. The concerned authorities were immediately informed, and the safety protocols laid down were followed. Passengers on both aircraft disembarked safely. After receiving the necessary approvals from the concerned authorities, the aircraft were released for further operations.”

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP, IGI Airport) Usha Rangnani said, “Extensive security checks are underway at IGI Airport ahead of the festive season! The IGI Police are on high alert to ensure the safety of all passengers. Your Safety is our Top Priority. The Delhi Police cares!”
