A 2-year-old boy in Gujarat's Amreli was mauled to death by a leopard; the child who was severely injured was taken to hospital where he was declared dead.

Amreli: In a horrific incident, a two-year-old boy in the Amreli district of Gujarat was mauled to death by a leopard. The man-eater attacked the baby when he was playing; the leopard has not been captured yet and the forest officials are constantly working towards it.

2-Year-Old Boy Mauled to Death by Leopard

A 2-year-old boy was mauled to death by a leopard in Gujarat's Amreli district, a forest department official said on Sunday.

The incident took place near Garamli village on Saturday evening, the official said.

"Chirag, the son of a farm labourer hailing from Dahod, was playing when the leopard attacked. The animal picked up the child and ran some distance and dropped him after his father gave chase. The severely injured child was taken to a hospital where doctors declared him dead on arrival," the official said.

The area where the incident took place is part of Gir East division forest and cages have been placed to capture the leopard, the official said.

Wolf Attacks in Bahraich Kill 8 People

In another news, a pack of seven wolves have caused havoc in Uttar Pradesh's Bahraich where in a period of 47 days, eight people, including six children, have been killed by the wolves.

People breathed a sigh of relief after the forest department captured the man-eater wolf in Uttar Pradesh's Bahraich district on Thursday morning.

After being rescued, the wolf was later taken to a rescue shelter of the forest department.
