238 'Govindas' Injured in Mumbai's Dahi Handi Celebrations During Janmashtami

The number of injured 'Govindas' during the Dahi Handi festival in Mumbai has surged to 238, BMC has informed on Wednesday.

Mumbai: number of injured 'Govindas' during Dahi Handi festival in Mumbai has climbed to 238 as of Wednesday, according to latest reports. Earlier today, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) h reported 63 injuries, but by end of day on Tuesday, this number h surged to 103.

'Govindas,' participants who form human pyramids as part of Janmashtami festival, were rushed to BMC-run hospitals and private hospitals for immediate medical treatment. A civic official confirmed increased number of injuries and noted that all necessary medical assistance was being provided to those affected.

Dahi Handi festival, a popular event in Mumbai, involves teams of young men and women forming human pyramids to break a pot filled with curd, hanging at a significant height. While festival is celebrated with much enthusiasm, it often les to injuries
