24-Year-Old Man Kills Girlfriend Days After Her Marriage, Ends Own Life In UP's Pratapgarh

Pratapgarh (UP): A 24-year-old man shot de his girlfriend before killing self with same gun in Uttar Presh's Pratapgarh district on Tuesday morning.
police said that reason behind incident is yet to be ascertained.

Superintendent of Police Anil Kumar said that incident occurred near Mafarpur market when Udayraj Verma, a resident of Singathi village, opened fire on his 22-year-old girlfriend, Jyoti.

According to SP Anil Kumar, Udayraj was in a relationship with Jyoti, who h married someone else just five days ago.

officer said that Jyoti was at her maternal home and h gone to fields early in morning when Udayraj, who was waiting nearby, shot her.

Upon hearing gunshots, her family members rushed to fields and found her injured. She was taken to district medical college for treatment and later referred to SRN Hospital in Prayagraj where she succumbed.

officer said that y found Udayraj's body around 50-60 meters from spot, suggesting he h shot himself after killing Jyoti.

A 0.315-bore country-me pistol was recovered from scene and witnesses claim hearing two gunshots initially, followed by a third after some time, police said.

bodies have been sent for postmortem and furr investigation in matter is underway to ascertain reason behind incident, y ded.
