29 people were killed and several others injured after a bus en route to Delhi fell in a drain on the Yamuna Expressway on a Monday morning.

Update at 10:24 am: Uttar Pradesh CM orders probe:

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has ordered a probe into bus accident on Yamuna Expressway.

Twenty-nine people were killed and 18 injured after a state-run bus skidded off Yamuna Expressway and fell into a large drain in Uttar Pradesh on Monday, officials said.

"An inquiry by a committee comprising Transport Commissioner, Divisional Commissioner and IG, Agra, has been ordered by CM Adityanath to investigate incident in 24 hours," Additional Chief Secretary, Information, Awanish Awasthi said.

committee will report on cause of accident and also recommend measures to avoid such incidents in future, he said.

incident occurred near Agra after Janrath Express Roadways bus of Awadh Depot carrying 44 people was traveling from Etawah to Delhi. UP Police said that bus was uncontrolled and submerged half in water after  it fell into a waterfall drain near vill Kuberpur.

police are at  spot and rescue operation is underway after bus fell 15 feet deep.

According to ANI, Uttar Pradesh Roadways has anunced an ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh to family of deceased.
