40 former MPs yet to vacate official bungalows, eviction orders issued

Nearly 40 former Lok Sabha MPs have t still vacated ir official bungalows in Lutyens' Delhi, prompting authorities to start issuing eviction orders under amended Public Premises (Eviction of Unauthorised Occupants) Act, sources said.

amended law empowers government to issue a show-cause tice, seeking reply of unauthorised occupants within three days, duration reduced from 15 days, as mandated under previous law.

"41 ex-MPs have t yet vacated ir official bungalows. Authorities have started issing eviction orders to m," one of sources said.

On August 19, Lok Sabha Housing Committee heed by CR Patil ordered around 200 ex-MPs, who did t vacate ir bungalows, to give up facility within a week and disconnected power, water and cooking gas connections to residences within three days.

Since order, most of ex-MPs have vacated ir official bungalows, but 41 former MPs are yet to do so. According to rules, former MPs have to vacate ir bungalows within a month of dissolution of previous Lok Sabha.
