408 new coronavirus cases in Chhattisgarh, six deaths

Chhattisgarh reported 408 new COVID-19 cases and six deaths on Thursday, which took the case tally to 13,960 and death toll to 115, a health official said.

While two coronavirus patients died on Thursday and another on Wednesday night, samples of three others who had died earlier were found to have been positive during the day, he said.

150 patients were discharged from hospitals following recovery from the infection on Thursday.

Chhattisgarh has 4,187 active cases now as 9,658 people have been discharged and 115 died.

Of the fresh cases, 151 were from Raipur district, 50 from Rajnandgaon, 41 from Durg, 29 from Raigarh, 23 from Sukma, 18 from Balodabazar, 15 each from Bastar and Narayanpur districts, 12 each from Bilaspur and Surguja districts, six from Koriya and five each from Mahasamund, Gariaband, Kondagaon and Kanker districts, he said.

Four cases each were reported from Surajpur and Dantewada districts, two from Jashpur while one case each came from Kabirdham, Dhamtari, Korba, Janjgir-Champa, Balrampur and Bijapur districts, the health official said.

A four-year-old boy from Raipur, admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) here after testing positive for the viral infection, died on Thursday morning.

A 56-year-old man from Raipur, who was suffering from breathing problem and high blood pressure apart from COVID-19 and admitted to Medical College Hospital here died in the morning.

The state has recorded over 9,600 coronavirus cases and 96 deaths in the last one month.

With a total of 4,745 cases so far, Raipur district tops the state tally. The district has seen 55 deaths.

Chhattisgarh's COVID-19 figures are as follows: Total cases 13,960, new cases 408, deaths 115, discharged 9,658, active cases 4,187, people tested so far 4,02,390.
