New Delhi: Minutes after the historic tripartite peace deal was signed between the Centre, the Assam government, and the United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA), Himanta Biswa Sarma spoke exclusively to the Republic and said that with signing this accord, Assam will be in total peace and it will strengthen peace and tranquillity. “This accord has put a block that one cannot go from one constituency to another and register yourself as a voter unless you have a solid landed property in another... By signing this accord, Assam will be in total peace and it will strengthen peace and tranquillity. Other Northeast states are also looking at Assam”, Sarma said while talking to Arnab Goswami, Republic's Editor-in-Chief.

- Speaking about elusive ULFA (I) chief Paresh Baruah, Sarma said, “The accord will pave the way for Paresh Baruah." For the unversed, Baruah is not a part of the agreement. He is believed to be residing at a place along the China-Myanmar border.
- Assam has seen a silent revolution. Out of 126 constituencies, 105 were protected. This peace deal ensures that the political rights of Asseames will be maintained through accord."
