51 were injured after masked people attacked JNU students, teachers: Govt
Altogether 51 people were injured and private cars and property damaged when masked people, armed with rods and sticks, attacked students and teachers of the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) on January 5, Parliament was informed on Tuesday.

In a written reply to a question in Lok Sabha, Union Minister of State for Home G Kishan Reddy said as reported by Delhi Police, a case was registered at Vasant Kunj rth police station on January 6 with regard to attack. "Fifty-one persons sustained injuries and all were medically examined. one was killed in this incident. Some private cars and property were also damd. Some of rioters involved have been identified," minister said.
Reddy ded that safety measures taken by police include deployment of police personnel both inside and outside JNU campus, liaison with students and university ministration to maintain peace, deployment of police personnel in plain clos around campus, stationing of a PCR van in vicinity of campus and briefing of students and ministration to report to m immediately if any violent or unwanted activity come to ir tice on campus premises.

JNU h informed that it h deployed 277 private security personnel on campus 24x7, minister said. As reported by Delhi Police, case was registered against injured students, Reddy said, ding that details of investigation could t be divulged at this st.
