The boy whose name is Derek C Lalchhanhima asked doctors o help a chicken he had accidentally run over using all of his savings.
The little social media star received a PETA India award, said a report. The organisation has given him the ‘Compassionate Kid’ award.
PETA India gave a statement about the award:
“Developing empathy for animals is a key step towards developing empathy for – and rejecting violence against – all beings, including humans. It’s important, therefore, that students learn at an early age that the animals with whom we share this planet are, in many ways, not so different from us.”
Derek had also received an award earlier in April. He got 'Word of Appreciation’ certificate from his school and was also presented with the Tawlhloh Puan, a shawl that is draped on him, is an honour given to those who have exemplified extraordinary courage, in traditional Mizo tradition.
