10 Killed, 5 Injured as 3-Storey Building Collapses in UP's Meerut; Rescue Operations On
At least eight people were killed and four people are likely trapped ,after a three-storey building suddenly collapsed in Uttar Pradesh's Meerut district.
Meerut: At least ten people were killed and five people got injured, after a three-storey building suddenly collapsed on Saturday evening in Uttar Pradesh's Meerut district.
The incident took place around 4:30 PM in Zakir Colony area of Meerut. As per the family and relatives, 15 people were trapped in the debris of the collapsed building. All 15 have been rescued, out of which 10 have died and 5 are undergoing treatment.
The area has been sealed and debris is being removed until the rescue team finds any possibility of human life in the debris.
The incident created a panic-like situation in the area leaving people shouting and crying. On information, the local police of Meerut along with the district administration rushed to the spot and initiated a rescue operation. According to the reports, the 3-storey building, located on street number 6 in Zakir Colony under the Lohia Nagar police station area, claimed to have collapsed due to incessant rain in Meerut and nearby districts for the last 3 days.
