97 Schools In Sikkim To Close Due to Low Student Enrolment, Check Details

The Sikkim government has decided to close 97 schools after the current semester due to low student enrolment, Education Minister Raju Basnet said on Thursday.

Gangtok : Sikkim government has decided to close 97 schools after current semester due to low student enrolment, Education Minister Raju Basnet said on Thursday.

schools identified for closure include 78 primary, 12 junior high and seven senior secondary.

Basnet ded that students from se institutes will be merged into nearest functional schools at end of current semester.

" decision aims to ensure better utilisation of resources and to enhance quality of education," Basnet ded.

He emphasised that Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) government, led by Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang, has me education a top priority.

" government is committed to providing quality education and has allocated best available infrastructure and resources across state's schools," he said.
